Learning Artifacts: Notable Presentation Deliverables
The following presentation outlines demonstrate my ability to connect with a diverse range of audiences. Given my previous experience as a premedical student, I have experience presenting on the analysis of different experiments and studies related to chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. From my experience as a tutor and supplemental instruction leader at the University of Arizona, I also have experience presenting on information that is formally taught in a classroom setting, geared towards providing students with an alternative method of understanding and processing information that is taught formally within a lecture, but reiterated through a supplemental support framework. Finally, I demonstrate my ability to communicate with a formal business audience, where I juxtapose formal American business practices with a degree of global business understanding, as these presentations are adapted to an Italian business audience.
Since there are many different interpretive pieces written on Freud, it was critical for this presentation that I demonstrated my creative critical thinking skills to analyze the aspects of Freud's theories that I deemed applicable to this presentation. This showcases my ability to connect complex topics to current events and my skills in analytical thinking and psychological reasoning. Although I am not a psychology major, through this general education course, I was able to develop a strong understanding of basic Freudian psychology. Alas, I hope to use the skills demonstrated through this learning artifact to showcase my ability to connect a variety of complex topics in a communicative format.
The reason why I chose to include my presentation on A Man's Search for Meaning is that it demonstrates my ability to think critically about the philosophies of one complex idea and further compare Viktor Frankl's theories on Free will to those of other scientists such as Adler and Freud. In doing so, I can demonstrate my ability to analyze various literary works and further compare and contrast these aspects to develop a cohesive thesis of my own. I can appreciate this skill in my future business career endeavors, as there will likely be a time when I am tasked with comparing and contrasting two different theories of economic thought and developing my own ideals based on current socioeconomic situations.
Supplemental Instruction Presentation
Exam Review Material
This SI Session Final Exam Review from my time as a Supplemental Instruction leader at the University of Arizona. As a tutor, in this exam review, I showcased my skills in developing and preparing material to present to roughly 200 students in a pre-exam format, and further facilitated a cooperative learning environment by presenting to these students. This product demonstrates my ability to organize and prepare complex material and portrays my comfort level in a leadership role. In my future career endeavors, I hope to venture into the realm of entrepreneurship and develop strong leadership skills in the process.
Experimentation Presentation: Analysis of Comparative Hemocyte Counts within Caterpillar Diets
This particular presentation showcases my ability to take an ethical dilemma and interpret data according to the ethical standards of scientific practice. Specifically, throughout this study, I studied the ecological differences between caterpillars as they relate to a certain density of their blood. In this experiment, however, there was an overall mortality rate of 99% among the caterpillars studied in our class. Given this information, I had to ethically interpret the data from the experiment in order to preserve the validity of the experiment for future classes. In other words, analyze what went wrong in the experiment to have such an incredibly high mortality rate. This presentation demonstrates my ability to adapt and be flexible, given unideal and rather unethical data, and further shape my viewpoint on certain topics to cultivate change in a scientific setting. While this particular learning artifact does not directly relate to my future career goals, it is a great representation of how I can apply different standards of thought to an ethical dilemma, such as employee wages, dividend distribution, or another unexpected financial event, and be flexible in the change I create within this difficult adversity. Formal Business Management and Business Communication Presentations
These particular presentations demonstrate my ability to navigate group coercion, stylistic business choices, and the ability to navigate communication through statistics and global business analytics. The stylistic applications within these two presentations represent the dedication and effort that I put forth towards effective communication, while also effectively communicating professionalism within the workplace. These presentations also outline my ability to acutely analyze different business functions, practices, and methods.
"Brady does a great job of providing creative ideas to help our group succeed. For the upcoming project on target audience, he's already suggested that we contact our most recent guest speaker, Claudia, regarding her personal insights on owning an American brand in Europe. This is just one of the many examples."
